R. I. F. F : Something Glamorous

Hey there, have you heard anything about R. I. F. F? Not the the ‘riff‘ riff but the Rajasthan International Folk Festival.  The genre is of folk and fusion. It is held during the Sharad Purnima  is a harvest festival celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu lunar month of Ashvin, marking the end of the monsoon season at Mehrangarh in Jodhpur. It was first held in 2007 and continues until this day.

This year, the dates were from October 5- October 9, 2017. I really wanna visit the courts of the Rajasthan Palace. I have heard and read that Rajasthan is truly a magical place to visit. To be honest, I have never had the chance to get out of Tamil Nadu except once when I had to go to Mumbai for my Uncle’s wedding. This festival is a colorful one and, its chief patron is Maharaja Gaj Singh. R. I. F. F brings together local artists and International ones to create beautiful new music through innovative collaborations.

It was initially launched as a not-for-profit agreement. It is supported by UNESCO as a heritage festival. Rolling Stones’ front man, Mick Jagger is the international patron. When I found this out, my heart leaped to my mouth. I was amazed. I had always liked Mick Jagger and, learning this came to me as a surprise. The theme of this fest varies every year.
